Cloud DevOps Consulting in the USA
Cloud DevOps Solutions helps startups, remote-first SaaS companies and enterprises in the USA plan and implement AWS, Azure and Kubernetes infrastructure.
Our founder holds the Microsoft Certified DevOps Engineer Expert, Azure Administrator Associate and CKA credentials. Managed DevOps cover options are business hours, extended or 24/7 depending on the plan, confirmed in the written scope.
AWS regions for US workloads
Many US workloads deploy to us-east-1 (N. Virginia) as the primary region, which typically offers broad AWS service availability. us-west-2 (Oregon) is a common West Coast region and a frequent choice for disaster recovery. Where workloads need data kept in the US only, we can configure SCPs to block non-US regions.
- Primary:
us-east-1(N. Virginia) - Secondary / DR:
us-west-2(Oregon) - Alternative:
us-east-2(Ohio),us-west-1(N. California)
US compliance frameworks we support
SOC 2 Type II
We can implement technical controls that SOC 2 auditors examine: CloudTrail with immutable log storage, IAM least-privilege and access reviews, automated patch management, and security monitoring with GuardDuty and Security Hub. SOC 2 reports are issued by an independent auditor; we do not certify.
CCPA and CPRA (California privacy law)
CCPA, as amended by the CPRA, gives California residents rights to know, delete, correct and limit the use of their personal data, so you need to be able to locate, export and delete it on request. We can design data architecture with data residency tagging, implement data subject request workflows, and configure S3 Intelligent-Tiering with lifecycle policies aligned with your data retention schedule.
HIPAA
For healthcare clients, we can implement technical safeguards that help meet HIPAA requirements on AWS and Azure, such as encryption, audit logging for PHI access, access controls, and disaster recovery. This is not legal advice. See our healthcare industry page for detail.
Time-zone coverage
The US spans ET, CT, MT, and PT (UTC-5 to UTC-8 in winter, UTC-4 to UTC-7 during daylight saving). Managed DevOps cover options are business hours, extended or 24/7 depending on the plan, confirmed in the written scope.
Billing and engagement
Billing currency, payment terms and contract terms are confirmed in the written scope and agreement.
Which working hours and overlap can US teams expect?
US teams can expect working sessions scheduled inside their own business hours, anywhere from Eastern to Pacific time. We agree a working window and a communication channel in the written scope at the start, so nobody has to guess when a pull request will be reviewed or when a call can happen.
The United States spans several zones, and the offsets move twice a year. Eastern, Central, Mountain and Pacific time sit at UTC-5 to UTC-8 in winter and UTC-4 to UTC-7 during daylight saving. Alaska and Hawaii are further west again. A team on the Pacific coast and a team in New York are three hours apart, so the practical question is which hours both sides can reliably meet.
Because delivery is remote and everything lives in your cloud accounts and repositories, work does not depend on being in the same city. Calls, screen-shares and written updates carry the engagement, and reviews happen in your own pull requests.
| Your location | Typical shared window to agree | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Eastern (New York, Boston, Atlanta) | Morning and early afternoon, your time | Longest shared window with European-timed working days |
| Central (Chicago, Dallas) | Mid-morning to afternoon, your time | One hour behind Eastern |
| Mountain (Denver, Phoenix) | Late morning to afternoon, your time | Arizona mostly does not observe daylight saving |
| Pacific (San Francisco, Seattle) | Afternoon blocks, your time, agreed per engagement | Calls are scheduled rather than assumed |
Which cloud regions suit US workloads?
Most US workloads land in one of the AWS US regions: us-east-1 (N. Virginia), us-east-2 (Ohio), us-west-1 (N. California) or us-west-2 (Oregon). On Azure the equivalent choices include East US, East US 2, Central US, South Central US, West US 2 and West US 3. The right choice depends on where your users are, which services you need and where your data is allowed to live.
A common pattern is one primary region plus a second region for disaster recovery, ideally on the opposite side of the country so a regional event does not take out both. Latency to users, the price of the services you run and the availability of newer services all vary by region, so check the current service list for each candidate before committing.
Regions are chosen by you, in accounts that you own. If a workload must stay in the United States, we can express that as code, for example with Service Control Policies in AWS Organizations or Azure Policy, and test that the guardrail blocks other regions. Some global services need exemptions in such a policy, so the rule is tested rather than assumed.
- AWS Organizations Service Control Policies or Azure Policy can restrict deployments to approved regions
- A second region for disaster recovery is chosen for distance as well as price
- AWS GovCloud (US) is a separate account type with its own regions, relevant only for specific government-related workloads
Which US data protection and security rules shape cloud design?
There is no single federal privacy law covering all personal data in the United States. Instead, requirements come from sector rules, state laws and customer contracts, which is why the same architecture can be fine for one company and inadequate for another.
At state level, California's CCPA, as amended by the CPRA, gives residents rights to know, delete, correct and limit the use of certain data, and a growing number of other states have their own comprehensive privacy laws. In healthcare, the HIPAA Security Rule expects safeguards such as access control, audit logging and encryption for protected health information, and cloud providers will typically sign a business associate agreement that you must put in place yourself. Note that a proposed update to the HIPAA Security Rule was still a proposal at the time of writing, so we design to the rule currently in force.
Many US buyers also ask suppliers about SOC 2. SOC 2 is an attestation produced by an independent auditor about your own controls, it is not a law and not something a consultancy can grant. What we do is build and document technical controls that an auditor will look for, such as audit logging, least-privilege access and monitoring. For legal interpretation, speak to your counsel or compliance officer.
What do US procurement and contracting usually involve?
Expect the usual commercial paperwork: a master services agreement or equivalent, a statement of work describing scope, and vendor onboarding forms. Larger buyers often add a security questionnaire and ask for details of how supplier staff access systems. Raise these early, because they set the pace of a start date more than the engineering does.
Our approach is consistent with the rest of this site: scope is fixed in writing before work starts, a named senior engineer is responsible for delivery, and everything is built in your accounts and your repositories. That makes access reviews simpler, because supplier access can be time-limited, role-based and removed when the work ends.
Commercial terms such as billing currency, payment methods and governing law are agreed in the contract, so confirm them with us during scoping rather than relying on a web page.
How does an engagement run from first call to handover?
An engagement starts with a conversation about your goals, followed by a written scope and a plan. Work then proceeds in your environment, with changes made through pull requests so your team can review them, and finishes with documentation and a handover so that you are not dependent on us to operate what we built.
Where the work is an assessment, the output is a findings report with prioritised recommendations. Where it is a build, the output is working infrastructure as code, pipelines or cluster configuration that your team owns. Our packages and how-we-work pages describe these shapes in more detail.
