SRE & Incident Response Services

We implement SRE practices aimed at reducing MTTR and alert fatigue, and at taking on-call off your developers. From SLO definition and runbook libraries to managed on-call cover on selected plans, confirmed in the written scope.

SRE is not a job title, it is a set of practices. We apply what works: SLOs that make reliability decisions objective, runbooks that reduce diagnosis time, and blameless post-mortems that actually fix things.

Pain points we fix

Developers are burned out from on-call

On-call can be taken off your developers as part of a Managed DevOps plan, with cover hours confirmed in the written scope.

No incident management process

When things break, everyone Slacks at once and nothing is coordinated. We implement a structured incident process: commander, comms, and scribe roles with clear escalation paths.

Post-mortems never happen or are blame-focused

We run blameless post-mortems with a standard template: timeline, contributing factors, action items with owners. Action items are tracked to completion.

MTTR is measured in hours, not minutes

Long recovery times mean long outages. We improve MTTR by fixing runbook gaps, improving alert quality, and reducing the diagnosis time with better observability.

No SLO or error budget tracking

SLOs make reliability decisions objective. We define SLIs, set SLOs, and track error budget burn so toil reduction and reliability work are prioritised correctly.

Alert fatigue means real alerts are missed

We audit alert quality, eliminate noisy alerts that never require action, and tune thresholds so every alert that fires needs a response.

Our process

  1. 01

    Incident and on-call audit

We review incident history, on-call rotation, alert volumes, MTTR metrics, and runbook coverage. We identify the highest-impact improvements.

  2. 02

    SLO and observability uplift

SLIs defined, SLOs agreed with product stakeholders, error budget dashboards built, and burn rate alerts configured.

  3. 03

    Process and runbook implementation

Incident process documented, runbooks written for every tier-1 service, PagerDuty/OpsGenie configured, and on-call schedules set.

  4. 04

    Ongoing operations or transition

If you want ongoing support, we can take on-call under a Managed DevOps plan, with cover hours confirmed in the written scope. If you want to run it yourselves, we train your team and observe the first few incidents.

FAQ

What is SRE (Site Reliability Engineering)?
SRE applies software engineering to operations problems. Key practices: defining reliability as SLOs, using error budgets to balance reliability and velocity, eliminating toil through automation, and treating infrastructure as code.
What is an SLO and how do you define one?
An SLO (Service Level Objective) is a reliability target, e.g. 99.9% of API requests succeed within 500ms. We start with your most user-visible services, identify the right SLI to measure, and set a realistic target based on historical performance.
What is MTTR and how do you improve it?
MTTR (Mean Time To Recover) is the average time from incident start to resolution. We improve it by writing runbooks (so engineers know exactly what to do), improving alert quality (so the right person is paged), and adding observability (so diagnosis is fast).
What is a blameless post-mortem?
A blameless post-mortem analyses an incident to find systemic causes without blaming individuals. The focus is on what failed in the system design, detection, or response process, and what concrete actions prevent recurrence.
What is error budget burn rate alerting?
An error budget burn rate alert fires when you are consuming your monthly error budget too quickly. For example, if you are burning your monthly budget in 2 days, something is wrong before customers notice the pattern.
How do you handle on-call for teams in multiple time zones?
Where your own team spans time zones, we can design follow-the-sun on-call rotations in PagerDuty or OpsGenie, splitting on-call hours between time zones so no engineer is consistently paged overnight.
