CI/CD and GitOps

Fast, trustworthy delivery depends on pipelines your team believes in. We build and repair CI/CD on GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins and Azure Pipelines, and we use GitOps tools such as ArgoCD and Flux to make deployments declarative and auditable.

Each page covers one tool in practical terms: how we structure pipelines, how we handle secrets and approvals, how we keep builds fast, and when migrating from one tool to another is worth the effort.

Technologies in this category

GitHub Actions

GitHub Actions is the workflow automation built into GitHub, used to build, test, scan and deploy code on every push or pull request. We design its workflow structure, short-lived cloud credentials, runner strategy and caching so pipelines stay fast, auditable and cheap to maintain as your team and repositories grow.

GitLab CI/CD

GitLab CI/CD is the pipeline system built into GitLab, defined in a .gitlab-ci.yml file and executed by GitLab Runners. We design its pipeline structure, shared templates, runner fleet, secrets handling and environments so builds are fast, deployments are controlled, and the setup stays maintainable as repositories multiply.

Jenkins

Jenkins is an open source automation server used to build, test and deploy software through jobs and pipelines defined in a Jenkinsfile. We stabilise existing Jenkins estates with pipeline as code, ephemeral agents, plugin hygiene and hardened access, and we plan clean migrations to other CI systems when Jenkins no longer fits.

Azure Pipelines

Azure Pipelines is the CI/CD service in Azure DevOps, defined in YAML and run on Microsoft-hosted or self-hosted agents. We design its template structure, environments and approvals, service connections, agent pools and deployment strategies so releases to Azure, AKS and other targets are controlled, auditable and fast.

ArgoCD

ArgoCD is a declarative GitOps continuous delivery tool for Kubernetes that compares the state in git with the live cluster and syncs the difference. We design repository layout, ApplicationSets, SSO and RBAC, sync and drift policies, and its own high availability and upgrades, so deployments are auditable and reversible.

Flux

Flux is a GitOps toolkit for Kubernetes made of small controllers that pull configuration from git, OCI or Helm repositories and reconcile it into clusters. We bootstrap and structure Flux, set up Kustomize and Helm releases, secrets, multi-tenancy and notifications, and run upgrades so clusters stay in line with git.

Frequently asked questions

Which CI/CD tool should we use?
Use the one that lives closest to your code. GitHub Actions for GitHub repositories, GitLab CI for GitLab, Azure Pipelines for Azure DevOps shops. Jenkins still makes sense for heavily customised or on-premises setups.
What is GitOps and do we need it?
GitOps stores the desired state of your environments in Git and has a controller apply it. It gives you audit trails, easy rollbacks and drift detection. It is most valuable once you have several environments or clusters.
Can you migrate us from Jenkins?
Yes. We migrate pipeline by pipeline, run old and new in parallel until results match, and only then retire the old jobs.
