Kubernetes Upgrade Planner

Describe your cluster and get an ordered checklist with a risk rating. It covers EKS, AKS, GKE and self-managed clusters. Nothing you enter leaves your browser.

Use minor versions such as 1.29. These are examples, enter your own.

Your plan

This is a planning aid, not a guarantee. Always follow your provider's upgrade documentation for the versions you use. Read our PodDisruptionBudget explainer and the Kubernetes guide, or ask us to review your cluster.

    Questions

Does this tool know the current Kubernetes versions?
No, deliberately. Supported versions and dates change, so the planner works from the versions you enter. Check your provider documentation for what is currently supported.
Why only one minor version at a time?
Kubernetes upgrades the control plane one minor version at a time. If you are several versions behind, plan one round per minor version, testing each before the next.
Can I roll back a Kubernetes upgrade?
Control plane downgrades are generally not supported, so plan to roll forward. You can usually roll back workloads and node pools. This is why staging, backups and a tested plan matter.
Does anything I enter leave my browser?
No. The plan is generated entirely in your browser.
